Dr. Badal was born and raised in California growing up in Silicon Valley, exposed to cutting-edge technology at an early age. He originally pursued interests in computer science and electrical engineering โ€” even working at Intel Corporation during high school โ€” before his mentor encouraged him to pursue a career in healthcare.

Undergraduate - University of California, Davis โ€” B.S. Cellular Biology cum laude (June, 2010)

Dr. Badal graduated cum laude with a degree in Cellular Biology, gaining early exposure to research science and developing his molecular biology research skills.

Medical School - Baylor College of Medicine โ€” M.D. (May, 2015)

As a medical student, Dr. Badal served as President of the Medical Student Council and Director of the Student Peer Resource Network. He volunteered at HOMES, a healthcare clinic for the homeless, throughout his medical education. He was awarded the Lehmann Outstanding Medical Student Award in 2015 for his leadership contributions.

Residency - University of California, Davis โ€” Urologic Surgery (June, 2015 - July, 2021)

Dr. Badal completed a two-year residency in General Surgery followed by four years in Urologic Surgery. During residency, he developed a passion for minimally invasive surgery and urologic oncology.

Fellowship - City of Hope National Cancer Center โ€” Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery (June, 2022)

After residency, Dr. Badal completed his fellowship at the City of Hope National Cancer Center outside Los Angeles, CA. He worked closely with patients facing newly diagnosed cancer as well as those battling recurrent disease. Under the mentorship of leaders in the field, he was exposed to the highest level of surgical training and further honed his skills as a robotic surgeon. He trained extensively on the DaVinci Surgical Robot platform - both the multiport (DaVinci Xi) and single-port (DaVinci SP) variants.

Assistant Professor โ€” Baylor College of Medicine, Scott Department of Urology (2022 โ€“ 2026)

Dr. Badal spent the first 4 years of his career at Baylor College of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Urology in the Minimally Invasive Surgery division. Working closely with residents and fellows, he excelled in robotic surgery and advanced urologic oncology. As part of his faculty role, he dedicated time at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, providing surgical care and urologic oncology services to our nation's veterans. He also operated weekly at Ben Taub Hospital, performing complex open and laparoscopic urologic surgeries for the indigent and uninsured population of Houston, TX.

Adjunct Professor โ€” Baylor College of Medicine ยท St. Charles Medical Center, Bend, OR (2026 โ€“ Present)

After departing Baylor College of Medicine in 2026, Dr. Badal was appointed an Adjunct Professor by Baylor College of Medicine. He now practices at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, OR, continuing his academic mission while serving patients in the Pacific Northwest.

Dr. Badal is fortunate to have trained with leaders in the field of urology. He has a passion for integrating emerging technologies and providing the highest level of care for his patients. He is also interested in cognitive behavioral education and amplifying compassionate, empathetic approaches in medical education.
